When performing rename operation with RENAME_WHITEOUT flag, we will hold AGF lock to allocate or free extents in manipulating the dirents firstly, and then doing the xfs_iunlink_remove() call last to hold AGI lock to modify the tmpfile info, so we the lock order AGI->AGF. The big problem here is that we have an ordering constraint on AGF and AGI locking - inode allocation locks the AGI, then can allocate a new extent for new inodes, locking the AGF after the AGI. Hence the ordering that is imposed by other parts of the code is AGI before AGF. So we get an ABBA deadlock between the AGI and AGF here. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
