If any part of log intent item recovery fails, we should shut down the log immediately to stop the log from writing a clean unmount record to disk, because the metadata is not consistent. The inability to cancel a dirty transaction catches most of these cases, but there are a few things that have slipped through the cracks, such as ENOSPC from a transaction allocation, or runtime errors that result in cancellation of a non-dirty transaction. This solves some weird behaviors reported by customers where a system goes down, the first mount fails, the second succeeds, but then the fs goes down later because of inconsistent metadata. Linux kernel

There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
